FROM THE PRESIDENT"S DESK

I thank you for electing me as president of PAMET-USA Nevada Chapter. With your trust and confidence                                        bestowed upon me, rest assured that I will do the best I can for the betterment of our organization. In order                                            for us to move forward, we must have the courage to do what is right for us and for our organization. We                                                must work together under the spirit of unity and harmony. For united we stand, divided we fall.

My policies and priorities as president are numerous as outlined in my acceptance speech  My friends please get involved. Let's endeavor to succeed. We can not succeed without endeavor. Wherefore, ask not what your association can do for you, but what you can do for your association. I remind you that we have just one life to live. Let us make the most of it. And one of the numerous ways to succeed is to make our organization live and grow by our dedication as officers and members. I welcome all of you to become active members. Let us do this for our community, for our profession and for ourselves.

                                                 EDITORIAL

This is PAMET-Nevada's first newsletter circulation. The newsletter will be circulated in the                                    FALL, WINTER, SUMMER, and SPRING seasons. I urge all Medical Technologists to contribute                                  articles, comments, suggestions, or topics that you would like to read in the newsletter or                                            website. You may send them to any of the officers' E- mail or to the departamental editors of the                                  newsletter.

I have heard other Filipino Medical Technologists say "What can PAMET membership do for                                        me?" Here are the lists of "pros" for joining PAMET-Nevada.

1. PAMET membership is nationwide. This is one way of being heard in the public and political arena.

2 .PAMET members contribute to charity here in the USA and in the Philppines. Future plans for PAMET-Nevada for          the coming holidays would be collecting used clothes, blankets, jackets and other warm clothings to give to charity       such as Salvation Army for example.

3. To be an active member of PAMET means to be seen and heard bythe community as a professional. Clinical laboratory personnel in the community are not given enough recognition by the medical profession because we are not "out there" enough to be noticed. So, let us be noticed by being an active member of the medical community.

4. Giving continuimng education workshops and seminars is a major part of the organization's 2003-2004 goals.

5. And lastly, there is strength in numbers and unity of thoughts and ideas to be shared.

Please join us in an effort to strengthen the Filipino and American Medical Technologist community by joining PAMET-USA Nevada Chapter. Be a member today!
